The Prodigy Project NEEDS you – The children need YOU

Private donations are the major source of funding for The Prodigy Project. We depend on your generosity in allowing us to service the youth of our communities.

THE PRODIGY PROJECT and BARNES & NOBLE TEAMED UP FOR A BOOK FAIR!!

The bookfair and volunteer drive was held at Barnes & Noble Booksellers located at 2205 Pleasant Hill Road in Duluth, GA

A portion of the sales benefited The Prodigy Project in the purchase of books and crafts for the children. Donations of new books for boys ages 5-9 were also accepted.

THE PRODIGY PROJECT with the support of INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENTS INTERNATIONAL COMPANY (IDI) PROVIDES BOOK BAGS AND SUPPLIES!!

In support of the partnership with the Zion Hill Community Development Corporation, and in preparation for the school year, The Prodigy Project provided book bags filled with school supplies to the community center's boys and girls.

We want to thank IDI for their sponsorship of the Book Bag Drive. IDI and their employees provided all of the materials. A special thank you goes out to IDI's Human Resource Director Debbi Kvietkus, the IDI Esprit Team, and Kerri Faber for all of their support with the sponsorship effort.

For a large number of African American children, it is apparent that our current education system is not meeting their needs. Several studies have shown that the academic achievement disparity between African American students and their white counterparts is widening. We are not here to point fingers or assess blame; instead we are here to facilitate a proactive partnership between the stakeholders of the community and schools in an effort to combat academic disparities. African American children certainly have the capacity to learn, and with the aid of concerned individuals and organizations, they’ll have a greater chance of achieving success.

Director Steven Ridges leads the boys in the reciting of the Credo.

African American children, particularly boys, face unique challenges. Existing within a society where being an adolescent black male automatically dictates that you will not excel in school and ultimately will become incarcerated is frightening. Many of these boys spend days, weeks, and often months without any interaction with positive male role models. Is it fair to expect those boys to grow into responsible young men if they do not have an opportunity to observe and interact with responsible adult men? It is time for us to rise to the challenge and give them what they deserve: the opportunity for a fair chance at life and achievement excellence free of low self-esteem and the confines of the penal system. Your donations will enable us to provide that opportunity.

Your donations will support the Prodigy Project in:
  • Covering the costs of books and educational materials
  • Covering the costs of background checks for volunteers
  • Recruiting volunteers for the site programs
  • Providing meals to the children when necessary
  • Providing transportation for the children when necessary
  • Covering administrative tasks
All donations benefit the children. No matter how big or small, your generosity will allow us to provide hope to a special child in our community.
