The Prodigy Project staff will attempt to match volunteers with a site location that best fits their logistical preferences.
Quick Steps to join The Prodigy Project
Here are a few steps in the process:
- Apply. Ready to join today? Complete the online application. By doing so, we can work together to expedite the process. A staff member will contact you to complete the application offline.
- Interview. A staff member will contact you to conduct an interview.
- Background Check. Child safety is of course very important. We require a background check which we’ll review and file for our records.
- References. We require at least two references that can attest to your suitability for working with children.
- Matching you with a site program. Depending on your preferences and the needs of the children, we will match you with a site. We want you happy with your selection and we aim to match you with a program we feel will meet your needs and those of the children.
Your time with the children
- Elementary School Site Program volunteers meet a couple times a month for just 1.5 - 2 hours a week during the day. They visit the schools and read and/or assist the boys with their reading and comprehension skills, and share life experiences.
- After School Site Program volunteers meet a couple of times a month for just 1.5 - 2 hours a week during the day. They read and participate in activities with the boys, and share life experiences.
- Weekend Site Program volunteers meet each Saturday morning at a participating partner site to read, share activities, and share life experiences with the boys.
Volunteer Support
Each volunteer is supported by The Prodigy Project staff. The staff works closely with the sites and regularly checks in with volunteers, children, and parents. For questions, you can contact the staff at any time.
THE PRODIGY PROJECT partners with Atlanta’s historic EBENEZER BAPTIST CHURCH and participates in annual Pre-Men’s Day Prayer Breakfast!!
The men of Ebenezer are now supporting two of The Prodigy Project’s south Atlanta programs. The title and theme of this year’s Brotherhood initiative was “Project Stand Up.” The project is a call to men to step up and take an active role in addressing the challenges faced by today's boys. The Ebenezer Brotherhood is committed to supporting The Prodigy Project and 2 other boy’s organizations. Members signed up during the annual Pre-Men’s Day Prayer Breakfast held in September at Morris Brown College. It was a great breakfast and time for the men to discuss future initiatives targeted at addressing the crisis associated with young boys and men.
